Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is not acceptable. Nobody should have to suffer physical or mental abuse in their own homes. Your home should be a place of safety. You do not need to accept this behaviour, you do not need to let the abuse continue.

What does the law say about domestic violence
- Domestic violence can be physical abuse or mental abuse. In whichever form it takes, the Law views it as not acceptable and you will be protected.
HOW CAN I BE PROTECTED?
The Police
- The Police will deal with any domestic violence situation and will take action if needs be.
Brown Turner
- If you are subjected to domestic violence and the actions the Police take do not work we can take out an emergency injunction out against the person harming you. If they breach this injunction they can be sent to prison.
You
It is vital that you deal with matters quickly before serious physical or mental damage is done.
- You do not have to accept being hit , punched or battered.
- You do not have to accept being sytematically demeaned.
Other Support
- Domestic violence does not only have immediate effects. some of the effects are more long lasting and counselling is available. If you feel that you need this help, we can work with counsellors to make sure that you get the help you need.
- Leaving home after domestic violence can be hard when you have nowhere to go, we can contact support agencies to help provide accomodation.
- Some relationship are difficult to get out of, if you are afraid for your safety and need additional support to get out of a relationship, we can contact agencies who provide this support
